I started making my products after having a go at pottery and falling in love with it. I brought a second hand kiln, made myself some earrings and it just grew from there. I wanted to make happy, colourful jewellery. I felt like the shiny colourful ceramic glazes were very jewel like and would look lovely on earrings and necklace beads.
The kiln firing is the most technical and important part of my work. It’s what makes that sticky lump of clay start to become something more permanent and precious. Operating the kiln and creating clay pieces that don't explode is quite a scientific thing, polar opposite to my other processes which are more creative and open ended. I enjoy the contrast of switching between the two.
I want people to feel special. Each piece of jewellery is unique as it is handmade. Every single pair of earrings or necklace bead is carefully crafted from clay, sculpted and refined. Hand-painting each glaze design means that items retain a lovely uniqueness. I’d like to think people absorb that quality when wearing them. One of a kind jewellery that makes you feel one of a kind.
