About Lisa Swift

Digital Illustrator who loves to draw local landscapes, buildings and wildlife.

Why did you start making your products?

As a maker I was stuck in a rut. Making the same products day after day, I had very little inspiration and I was just bored! I had not drawn for a number of years but lockdown provided me with some time to take it up again. I found a new love for digital illustration and with a little confidence, I was able to put my art out into the world.

What inspires your products or collections?

My illustrations began with the beautiful Peak District and Derbyshire scenery. It is very hard not to be inspired by the rolling green hills, beautiful villages and dramatic scenery on my doorstep!

What is the best thing someone has said about your products?

I've had several customers who have bought my illustrations to send to family across the globe to remind them of home. It is a very strange feeling that my artwork is in homes in the US, Canada and Australia!

What does a dream day of making look like to you?

A day which starts with a walk on a sunny morning in the Peak District. Then coming home, making a cuppa and drawing the beautiful buildings or scenery.

How do you make your products more sustainable?

The printers that I use were chosen because they print onto responsibly sourced materials. I also make sure to keep all my packaging compostable and plastic free.

What is the most important thing about your practice?

Working with other small businesses. If not made by myself, where possible I work with other small businesses who can print my products and provide the packaging I need. I am a big believer in shopping small!

What is your favourite thing about making that you don't get to talk about very often?

Seeing the first test print coming out of the printer after completing an illustration. I love drawing digitally but seeing it on actual paper is a lovely feeling.
