Amber is the latest addition to our team and my family, joining in December 2023. When we first adopted Amber she was incredibly timid and nervous. She was rescued from a breeding farm in Ireland so her new world was super scary and different to what she was used to. After spending lots of time in the shop and meeting many of our lovely customers, her confidence has grown and she’s really come out of her shell.
She’s always looked to her older sister Orla for reassurance and has learnt so much from her – Amber knows she’s safe when Orla’s around. Amber has now become a total fuss pot and loves all the attention she gets at Handmade Design. She has a really sweet and playful way about her.
I’m always being asked what breed of dog Amber is – she’s often mistaken for a Cocker Spaniel. We’ve actually did a DNA test a while ago and she’s 82% Golden Retriever and the rest of her is a mix of Irish Red Setter (that’s where she gets her beautiful auburn colour from!) and Irish Red and White Setter .
You can usually find Amber snoozing on her bed at the back of the shop with Orla or roaming around the shop looking for some fuss and attention.
